What happens in counselling?
All our counselling sessions take place in private, comfortable surroundings on a one-to-one basis. We deal with a variety of problems, including:
| Depression |
Work related problems |
| Stress |
Building self-esteem |
| Family problems |
Bereavement |
| Relationship and marriage difficulties |
Post traumatic stress |
| Separation and divorce |
Culture shock |
Or we simply provide a safe place if you need to talk over any issue that is troubling you.

How long does it take?
We offer an initial interview to discuss how we can best help you. Sessions are then arranged as needed. We schedule an hour for each visit.
The number of visits very much depends on the type of problems you are experiencing. Someone experiencing minor situational problems may require a shorter period of counselling than those who have long standing issues which affect many areas of their lives.

What is the cost?
We do not charge for our services. We would however be grateful for a donation of between 10 - 40 Euros, according to your individual circumstances. We are happy to offer our service free of charge if you are unable to pay this.

Is it confidential?
Yes, anything we discuss will be considered confidential. We have a confidentiality contract, which is mutually agreed.

What should I do next?
Just phone for an introductory session. You do not need a referral from a doctor.
The first session is to assess whether the counselling on offer is suitable for you and whether you and the counsellor feel comfortable working together. Where necessary, we will try to offer a referral elsewhere.

What is the philosophy of OASIS?
OASIS offers a service that seeks to help people find peace in their lives, based on truth. We acknowledge the importance of body, mind and spirit in dealing with any situations we face as human beings While we as counsellors personally believe that the peace of God is the inner strength that enables one to cope with the difficult experiences of life and we affirm the central truths of the Christian faith, we do not seek to impose these on our clients. We work with the client’s agenda whether the client shares our faith or not. We are all trained counsellors and receive independent professional supervision and work to the Code of Ethics and Practice of the Association of Christian Counsellors.
Our service is not intended to compete with the help available through your own church, close relationships, a psychotherapist or a medical doctor. Rather, it should be seen as a back-up and support to their services. We will not deal with matters of medical treatment, but will ask you to consult with your own doctor.
